Create a new take on sports minimalism by teaming an oversized t-shirt dress with our Trigenic Flex. Already a big hit with sneaker freaks, this pioneering design is made using moccasin construction and has a three part decoupled sole that flexes with the foot. Finish your look with the Tigley Spring clutch – its clean lines will add an architectural edge to this effortless off-duty outfit.
With the sun we’ve been enjoying, now is the perfect time to start assembling the building blocks of your new season wardrobe. Model and fashion blogger Samio has teamed our Hotel Bustle shoe in navy leather with ripped and rolled jeans, a classic striped tee and sunglasses for a fresh take on summer in the city. Start building your new style now…
This season there was a white-out on the runways and now that summer has arrived this hue is good-to-go. Take a detox from clashing prints and patterns with all white sandals, backpacks kimono tops, and courts. Our Geta Block sandals feature a geisha inspired look using an ultra-lightweight cork wrapped sole – meaning they achieve that must-have chunky appearance but they’re light enough to wear on long summer days.
As part of our series on working in the fashion industry we catch up with Men’s Buyer, Fee Pearce, to find out a little more about working in buying…
How I got here…
I’ve always been creative, but to begin with my interests were in Fashion Journalism. I studied Fashion Management and then took an internship at WGSN, but found myself drawn to Buying after learning more about what it involves. I got a job in London working for an outdoor clothing company as an assistant on their Buying team and soaked up everything I could. I’ve always wanted to work for a global brand so Clarks was a natural next step for me.
My advice for breaking in to fashion…
Accept the fact it’s going to be competitive so make sure you stand out from the crowd – be passionate, deliver your best at all times (even if it’s making your boss an awesome cup of tea) and always arrive early!
Worst advice I ever got…
A difficult manager once told me I shouldn’t make any mistakes, which is ridiculous. Making mistakes is sometimes one of the best ways to learn, and as long as you’re not doing it all the time, also one of the best ways to identify how to improve a process or challenge the status quo.
The weather! Recently our seasons in the UK have been particularly unpredictable. As a Buyer it’s my job to know what the consumer is going to want from us a year from now, but in the last couple of years the weather has meant it’s been hard for us to plan for transitional points in the season. I’ve found myself asking our designers for boots in spring and canvas in autumn!
My go-to look…
Everything in my wardrobe is black at the moment! It’s easy chic. I’m a bit of a tomboy so I’m really into man-tailoring and simple sports inspired aesthetics to set off an outfit – mesh, square-cut tops and a silver chain.
What I’m wearing now….
My Trigenics look great with almost everything. I love the deconstructed sole. I always turn up my jeans when I wear them to make sure they get the attention they deserve!
Nothing says spring like a bright pop of yellow, and as it was such a key colour on the SS15 runways – we say why wait? The honey hue gives dark denim an instant lift and works harmoniously with sweet floral prints.
We can’t wait to see how Freya Bromley from fashion blog frey de fleur styles up her honey coloured Berrick Ruby sandals, but here is a little sneak peak from Freya – also featuring our Mirabello Fun cross body bag.
Luxe joggers were not designed to be house-bound so work out what to wear yours with and break out. We think this season’s must-have legwear is best teamed with a pair of slip-on trainers like our Glove Puppet in dusty pink. The aim is to look more catwalk than treadmill, so mix-up sporty pieces with luxe accessories, or go for a high/low combo and team a leather midi-skirt with a slogan sweatshirt. However you do it, an athletic update is essential this season.
Reasons to jump feet first into a new pair of SS15 sandals:
A) You’re heading for some winter sun
B) You’ve decided to rock your new sandals with socks or tights (this is a new era!)
C) You’ve just seen our Netrix Rose silver sandals – need we say more?
Slides like this can’t wait until the temperatures soar; they deserve to be worn now. Team them with luxe joggers, pearly white socks or black tights, to achieve futuristic monochrome. When your footwear is this hot you can brave anything, even a January cold snap.
Salopettes? Check. Thermals? Check. So you have your ski wear sorted, but that’s only half the battle. Heading out for a Jägertee or two is the perfect way to wind down after a big day on the slopes, but getting from A to B in the snow can be far from relaxing. Does this mean you should sacrifice in the style stakes? Definitely not. Our Mint Jam boot has a breathable, waterproof GORE-TEX ® lining that will ensure your feet stay warm and dry en route to the bar and, perhaps more importantly, the on-trend Chelsea boot styling will ensure you stay après chic.
From icy blue hues to cobalts and inky shades – make stepping into 2015 a whole lot brighter with some blue shoes. The perfect transitional shade, a pair of blue shoes = serious wardrobe mileage. One way to navigate the changing temperatures is to rework your winter coat. Trench, parka or duster – this season has been all about maxi length and that’s not about to change.
Team a pair of our perforated sky blue Griffin Maddy shoes with your longline coat and some washed-out denims. Style today with a cable knit sweater and skinny jeans then rework it with a boxy cropped top and ‘mum’ jeans rolled high when the weather starts to warm up
As you can guess from the name of her blog, Georgie from Fashion is Black is obsessed with inky black shades and ebony coloured clothes. However she did make an exception for our Turin Dreaming ankle boots in oxblood red. We LOVE how she styled them up with high-waisted peg trousers, cropped vest top and jacket in, you guessed it, black – some things just work!
Chelsea boots – an androgynous silhouette loved by 60s hipsters like Dylan and the Stones, and now the uniform for off-duty models and indie kids alike. If you don’t own a pair – you need to, if you already do, then you need another!
This trend is going nowhere fast, so now it’s about making an outfit impact. These Clarks X Orla Kiely boots use a combination of smooth and pony effect leathers to score a double style hit. With Christmas markets and Winter Wonderlands calling your name you should team your new Chelsea boots with some skinnies, an oversized plaid shirt peeking out under a sports-luxe sweatshirt and some fingerless gloves – you’ll need to be able to hold that warm mug of Glühwein!
