‘A modern bohemian rhapsody’ was the inspiration for German designer Marcel Ostertag’s show at Berlin Fashion week. A master class in clash, with Ostertag teaming playful prints with geometric shapes, sheer fabrics with hard lines, and feminine dresses with chunky androgynous accessories.
On display with Ostertag’s new season designs was our very own Oriana Bess sandal. Paired with a chiffon sheath dress one minute and a printed neon trench the next – these sandals are all about new season versatility. Team loud and proud prints with our Oriana Bess heeled sandal for a could-be-catwalk look.
Nothing says spring like a bright pop of yellow, and as it was such a key colour on the SS15 runways – we say why wait? The honey hue gives dark denim an instant lift and works harmoniously with sweet floral prints.
The midi skirt has been a sure fire hit this summer. Although traditionally not the easiest length to wear, once you get it right the elegant lengths are super flattering.
The midi usually falls at the mid-calf (hence the name) but some new styles have crept lower so they’re almost reaching the ankle. New York socialite Olivia Palermo was even spotted wearing her looser midi skirt up high as a bandeau dress – creating a wardrobe 2-4-1 (win!).
With real petal power, we think this midi works best with simple block heel sandals and a clean slice of white on top. As summer draws to a close teaming the midi with sandals is the perfect way to transition in style. In early August combine it with a short boxy top to break up your silhouette and then as it starts to get cooler create some casual contrast by wearing it with a cream chunky knit sweater.
