‘Kinky’ boots are everywhere right now – we’re seeing thigh-high styles in AW15 collections by Saint Laurent, Burberry, Chloé and Isabel Marant, while the drab-to-fab shoe factory musical Kinky Boots just opened as a hot ticket on London’s West End.
As creators of The Avengers’ Cathy Gale’s thigh-skimming boots in 1962, Clarks are none-too-shabby when it comes to the look. Thank you then to Silken Favours Creative Director Victoria Murdoch for showing us how she wears our season’s essential Caddy Belle boots.
Sleek but fresh, she’s treating us with a backdrop of one of her fruity hand-drawn printed fabrics. Silken Favours designs use traditional pen and ink techniques to create cute, kitschy pieces that are stocked by Liberty London and Harvey Nichols Hong Kong. We like.
We grabbed a quick Q&A with Victoria to pin down her winter wishlist.
Describe your style in five words:
Retro, 70s, playful, chic and fun.
How will you be styling your Caddy Belle boots this season?
With short denim or suede skirts, bare legs if the weather allows, tucked in silk shirts or small knits, with a leather jacket to finish.
What’s your favourite thing to do when the weather turns colder?
Head to the countryside or Hampstead Heath for a walk in the autumn leaves then head to a cosy pub for warm food and wine.
